Bleed Festival Branding
process:
For this exam assignment, I created a brand identity for Bleed, a design festival in Ghent. The project involved selecting five speakers, creating a mood board, and working through design studies.
The branding relied heavily on the graphic mark, which was used consistently across all collateral. Once I established the logo and visual direction, I began working on the poster design but felt stuck at one point. To move forward, I switched to designing wristbands, which sparked new inspiration and helped me find the ‘missing piece’ to continue refining my favorite posters. Once my vision was clear, the design process flowed smoothly, allowing me to finalize the rest of the collateral with ease.
I chose to make it a typographic festival, focusing on non-traditional typography.Type that’s meant to be looked at, rather than legible. This approach reflects my love for experimental design and my desire to challenge the rules of graphic design. ( such as never stretching a font or distorting type for the sake of creativity. )
