After watching the film Pulp Fiction i decided to do research on themes throughout the movie. In the hope these could spark some inspiration. I knew from the start that I wanted to focus on 1 storyline/character. In this case my main focus was Mia Wallace.

I enjoyed the song 'Girl, You'll Be a Woman Soon' by Urge Overkill a lot. It was playing during the scene where Mia is seen dancing and proceeds to overdose by accident. I decided to focus on this scene/Mia Wallace.

I was looking for a way to combine the key elements of her storyline: her iconic look, the syringe, a bloody nose, the red dot that was drawn on her chest, a way to hint toward the music player, and the song I loved.

During the first digital drafts, I further explored other elements linked to Mia, such as the tomato joke she made after the overdose, the conversation with Vincent during the dinner scene, and playing with fonts and the boldness of text. I deliberately made the 'u' in the shape of a blood drop, which is another subtle hint.

After a feedback session, I decided to refine a couple of designs I had created. Each of them had a very different style and approach. These were my top three versions, and I ultimately chose the one with the music player to hand in. Since it was a refined version of my initial digital design, it felt the most representative of the film.
